Where are you located?
Dizzy Spoon is a home-based cottage food bakery located in Urbana, Maryland. All orders are made fresh to order and are available for scheduled local pickup.
Do you ship your treats?
At this time, Dizzy Spoon does not offer shipping. Orders are available for local pickup only.
How far in advance should I place my order?
We recommend ordering as early as possible, especially for holidays, birthdays, weddings, school events, large parties, and other special occasions. Availability is based on our baking schedule, and popular dates can fill quickly.
Last-minute orders may be accepted when our schedule allows, but are not guaranteed.
Is there a minimum order?
Minimum quantities vary by product. Product pages will list the minimum quantity required for that particular item.
Can I order different designs or flavors in the same order?
For many products, each dozen or set is limited to one design, flavor, or combination of options. Please check the individual product description for details.
If you would like multiple designs or flavors that require separate selections, you may need to add the product to your cart more than once.
Can I request something that I don’t see on the website?
Absolutely! If you have an idea that isn’t listed, contact us. Custom orders may be possible depending on the design, quantity, ingredients, equipment, and our schedule.
Do you make completely custom designs?
Yes! Custom cookies and treats can be created around your theme, colors, event, celebration, favorite characters, wording, photos, drawings, or other ideas.
Please provide as much information as possible when placing your order.
CUSTOM PRINTED SUGAR COOKIES
What are printed sugar cookies?
Our printed sugar cookies are decorated sugar cookies with an edible image printed directly onto the cookie.
The image is printed using edible food-safe printing materials and becomes part of the finished cookie. There is no paper attached to the cookie.
Are the printed images edible?
Yes. The printed image is made using edible materials and is intended to be eaten with the cookie.
Can I use my own photo or image?
Yes! You can provide your own image, photograph, logo, artwork, invitation, child’s drawing, or other image for printing, provided you have permission to use the image.
Can you print children’s artwork?
Yes! Our Design Your Own Printed Sugar Cookies are perfect for children’s drawings, artwork, handwriting, school projects, gifts, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, teacher gifts, and special keepsakes.
Will my printed image look exactly like the original?
We do our best to reproduce submitted images as accurately as possible. However, colors can vary slightly between a digital screen and edible printing, and the final appearance can also be affected by the color and surface of the cookie.
Very dark or heavily saturated colors may not reproduce exactly as they appear on a screen.
Red shades are difficult to match correctly due to the food coloring cartridge. We will try to match to the best of our availabilty.
Can you print logos or copyrighted characters?
Customers are responsible for having permission to use any artwork, logo, photograph, character, or other copyrighted or trademarked material they submit.
How large are the printed cookies?
Cookie sizes vary by product. Please refer to the individual product listing for the approximate size.
Can I have multiple designs in one dozen?
Some printed cookie products allow multiple designs while others are limited to one design per dozen. Please check the individual product listing.
MINI FILLER COOKIES
What are mini filler cookies?
Mini filler cookies are smaller decorated sugar cookies designed to complement a larger cookie set, platter, party favor, or dessert table.They are also perfect for little hands!
Can I customize mini filler cookies?
Mini filler cookies are intentionally kept simple. Product options will specify the available shapes, colors, and customization.
Can mini filler cookies have printed images?
Our mini filler cookies are not designed for printed images. They are intended as simple coordinating cookies.
But, we do offer smaller/mini printed cookies as listed as cupcake toppers
Can I order several different shapes and colors?
Mini filler cookies are generally offered as one shape and one icing color per dozen unless otherwise specified.
PAINT YOUR OWN COOKIES
What are Paint Your Own Cookies?
Paint Your Own Cookies are decorated sugar cookies that include an edible paint palette and brush so the recipient can paint their own cookie.
They are great for children’s activities, birthday parties, party favors, gifts, holidays, and family activities.
Is the paint edible?
Yes. The paint is made using food-safe, edible coloring intended for use on the cookie.
How do I paint the cookies?
Simply use the included brush and a small amount of water to activate the edible colors. Directions are included with the cookies.
Can children paint them?
Yes! They are designed as an interactive edible activity. Children should be supervised while using the paint and brush.
Can Paint Your Own Cookies be customized?

COOKIE CAKES
What size are your cookie cakes?
Our custom cookie cakes are approximately 8 inches.
How much do cookie cakes cost?
Our 8-inch custom cookie cakes are currently $35.
Can I customize a cookie cake?
Yes! Cookie cakes can be customized for birthdays, celebrations, milestones, holidays, and other occasions.
What frosting is used?
Cookie cakes are decorated with buttercream frosting. Available options and colors will be listed with the product.
Can I request specific colors or wording?
Yes! Please provide your preferred colors, wording, and theme when placing your order.
How should I store my cookie cake?
Keep your cookie cake covered and stored at room temperature unless otherwise instructed.
Avoid direct sunlight, heat, and humid areas.
Can cookie cake be refrigerated?
Refrigeration is generally not necessary and may affect the texture of the cookie. If refrigeration is necessary because of your specific circumstances, allow the cake to come back toward room temperature before serving.
CAKE POPS
What are cake pops?
Cake pops are cake and frosting formed into bite-sized treats and coated for a finished dessert.
We offer a variety of cake pop styles, flavors, shapes, colors, and designs.
What cake pop flavors are available?
Available flavors vary. Please see our Cake Pop Flavor Library and individual product listings for current options.
Can I request a flavor that isn’t listed?
Possibly! We have a large selection of cake flavors and may be able to accommodate special requests depending on ingredients and availability.
Can I mix flavors in one dozen?
Unless specifically offered as a mixed-flavor option, cake pop orders are generally made as one flavor per dozen.
Can I mix designs in one dozen?
Design options vary by product. Please check the individual listing for the number of designs permitted per dozen.
Do all cake pops come on sticks?
No. We offer traditional cake pops on lollipop sticks as well as cake balls without sticks.
Can you make shaped cake pops?
Yes! We offer hand-molded cake pop shapes and other specialty designs depending on the request.
PRINTED CAKE POPS
What are printed cake pops?
Printed cake pops feature an edible image printed directly onto the edible coating of the cake pop.
The image is not paper and is not a separate sticker attached to the cake pop.
Are the printed images edible?
Yes. The image is printed using edible food-safe materials.
What flavors can be used for printed cake pops?
Printed cake pops require a light-colored cake and coating so the printed image can be seen clearly. Chocolate and red velvet cake are not available for printed cake pops.
Why can’t dark cake be used?
A dark cake or coating can interfere with the appearance of the printed image. Printed designs look best on a light-colored surface.
How many designs can I have?
Printed cake pops are generally limited to one image, shape, and flavor per dozen unless otherwise specified.
Can I provide my own image?
Yes. Customer-provided images may be used when suitable for edible printing.
PRINTED TREATS & EDIBLE IMAGES
What does “printed directly onto the item” mean?
Our edible printing process places the image directly onto the edible surface of the treat. The treat is ran through an FDA approved edible food printer.
There is no paper, cardboard, sticker, or non-edible image attached to your food.
What items can you print on?
Depending on the product, we can print edible images on items such as sugar cookies, cake pops, marshmallows, and other suitable treats.
Can I provide a photograph?
Yes. Customer-provided photographs can be used for edible printing when the image quality is suitable.
What type of image should I submit?
For the best results, submit a clear, high-resolution image with good lighting and minimal blurriness.
Images that are very dark, blurry, pixelated, or extremely detailed may not print as clearly.
Can I send a screenshot?
You can, but a high-resolution original image is preferred whenever possible.
COOKIE & TREAT STORAGE
How should I store my sugar cookies?
Keep decorated sugar cookies in an airtight container at room temperature in a cool, dry location.
Keep them away from direct sunlight, heat, moisture, and humidity.
Should I refrigerate decorated sugar cookies?
Generally, no. Refrigeration can introduce moisture and may affect the texture and appearance of decorated cookies.
How long do decorated sugar cookies stay fresh?
Properly stored decorated sugar cookies can remain enjoyable for several days. For the best taste and texture, we recommend enjoying them within the timeframe provided with your order.
Can I freeze sugar cookies?
Yes. Decorated sugar cookies can generally be frozen when properly packaged.
Place cookies in an airtight, freezer-safe container or packaging with protection between layers as needed.
Allow frozen cookies to thaw while still packaged to help prevent condensation from forming directly on the decorated surface.
Can I freeze cake pops?
Cake pops can generally be frozen when properly packaged. Allow them to thaw while still packaged to help prevent condensation.
Can I freeze a cookie cake?
Cookie cakes are best enjoyed fresh. If you need to store one for later, follow the storage instructions provided with your order.
What happens if my treats get too hot?
Heat can affect icing, buttercream, coatings, decorations, and printed images. Keep your order in a cool environment and out of direct sunlight.
ALLERGIES & INGREDIENTS
Do your products contain common allergens?
Our products may contain or come into contact with common allergens, including wheat, nuts, eggs, milk, soy, and other ingredients depending on the product.
Do you offer allergen-free products?
Because products are prepared in a home kitchen where different ingredients are used, we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.
If you have a severe food allergy, please contact us before ordering so we can determine whether we can safely accommodate your request.
Do you offer gluten-free products?

Can I get an ingredient list?

CUSTOM ORDERS & DESIGN APPROVAL
When will I receive my design?
For orders requiring customer artwork, photos, or other custom information, we will use the information provided with your order to create the requested design.
Will you contact me if there is a problem with my image?
If there is an issue that prevents us from producing the requested design, we will contact you when possible.
Please make sure the contact information associated with your order is accurate.
Can I change my design after placing my order?
Changes may be possible before production begins. Once your order has entered production, changes may not be possible.
Can I change the pickup date?
Please contact us as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate changes, but availability is not guaranteed.
PICKUP INFORMATION
Where do I pick up my order?
Orders are available for scheduled pickup at our designated pickup location in Urbana, Maryland.
Your pickup instructions will be provided with your order.
Do I need to arrive at my scheduled pickup time?
Yes. Please arrive during your scheduled pickup window.
Pickup times are scheduled carefully because we are often preparing and coordinating multiple orders throughout the day.
Why is being on time important?
We make every effort to have your order ready at your scheduled pickup time. Being on time helps us keep all customer orders on schedule.
We may have other customers arriving immediately before or after you, so extended pickup delays can affect our production schedule.
What happens if I’m late?
If you are running late, please contact us as soon as possible.
Depending on the circumstances, your order may need to remain at the designated pickup location until you arrive.
What if I cannot make my pickup time?
Please contact us as soon as possible. We will do our best to work with you when our schedule allows, but we cannot guarantee that another pickup time will be available.
Can someone else pick up my order?
Yes, someone else may pick up your order on your behalf. Please make sure they know the order name and pickup instructions and are able to transport the treats safely.
PORCH PICKUP
What happens if my order is left on the porch for pickup?
If your order is designated for porch pickup, it will be placed in the designated pickup area according to your pickup instructions.
Once the order has been placed outside for pickup, the customer is responsible for the order and its condition.
What if I leave my order outside too long?
Please retrieve your order promptly.
Weather, temperature, sunlight, humidity, insects, animals, and other outdoor conditions can affect food quality and decorations.
Dizzy Spoon is not responsible for damage or deterioration that occurs after the order has been placed outside for pickup.
WEATHER & TEMPERATURE
What happens if it is extremely hot outside?
Some treats are sensitive to heat. Buttercream, chocolate or candy coatings, decorations, and edible images can be affected by high temperatures.
During hot weather, we strongly recommend taking your order directly to an air-conditioned location.
Can my order sit in my car?
We do not recommend leaving treats in a hot vehicle.
A parked vehicle can become significantly hotter than the outside temperature and may cause buttercream, coatings, decorations, and other components to melt or soften.
What about cold weather?
Very cold temperatures can also affect certain decorations and coatings. Follow the storage instructions provided with your order.
What happens if there is severe weather?
If severe weather creates a safety concern for pickup, we may contact customers to discuss an alternate arrangement or pickup time.
TRANSPORTING YOUR ORDER
How should I transport my treats?
Keep your treats flat and level whenever possible.
Place them in an air-conditioned vehicle during warm weather and avoid placing them directly in sunlight or near a heat source.
Can I put the box on my car seat?
A flat, level surface is preferred. Avoid placing the order where it can slide, tip, or be exposed to direct sunlight.
Can I stack boxes?
Do not stack boxes unless specifically instructed. Pressure and heat can damage decorations and packaging.
ORDER CHANGES & CANCELLATIONS
Can I cancel my order?
Cancellation policies depend on how far along the order is in the production process.
Once ingredients have been purchased, designs have been prepared, or production has begun, a full refund may not be available.
Can I change the quantity of my order?
Quantity changes may be possible if requested before production begins and if our schedule allows.
Can I change my design after ordering?
Please contact us as soon as possible. Changes cannot always be accommodated once an order has entered production.
What if I need to cancel because of an emergency?
Please contact us as soon as possible. We will review the situation based on the timing and status of your order.
PRODUCT APPEARANCE
Will my treats look exactly like the picture?
Product photos are examples of our work. Because each item is handmade, there may be slight variations in color, shape, decoration, placement, and overall appearance.
Can colors vary?
Yes. Colors may appear slightly different depending on lighting, photography, computer monitors, phone screens, and edible printing.
Why might my printed image look slightly different?
Edible printing can vary slightly from what you see on a computer or phone screen. The surface being printed on, image quality, and color composition can all affect the final result.
Are handmade treats perfectly identical?
No. Handmade products naturally have small variations, which are part of the character of a custom-made product.
FOOD SAFETY
Are your treats made fresh?
Yes. Orders are prepared according to the production schedule for your pickup date.
Are your treats made in a licensed commercial bakery?
Dizzy Spoon operates as a Maryland cottage food business and follows applicable Maryland cottage food requirements.
Can I eat the decorations?
Only decorations identified as edible should be consumed. Some decorative items used on specialty orders may be intended for decoration only.
When in doubt, please ask before consuming a particular decoration.
Are non-edible items used on the treats?
Some products may contain items such as sticks, packaging components, ribbons, toppers, or other decorative elements that are not edible.
These should be removed before eating.
PAYMENT & ORDERS
When is payment due?
Payment is required according to the checkout terms shown when placing your order.
When is my order considered confirmed?
An order is considered confirmed once the order has been successfully placed and payment requirements have been completed.
Can I place an order by message?
